Who says sci-fi shows or TV in general doesn't teach you anything?

Battlestar Galactica levels the field. It isn't a space show. It's a show about life and how we can deal with issues we face today in our personal, social and work lives.

Now that's a show! No stupid reality shows, contests that pit stupidity versus stupidity, and shows that sucker you in like a fish to a fish hook, but give you nothing in return.

This is what TV should be like.
